Have you been staring at your laptop/notebook/napkin, fueled with caffeine and no inspiration?

We've all been there. Here are three things I do to beat writer's block:

1. Read a Few Books

ree

Anytime I feel a block, I pick up a book. There's nothing better to help than reading a book in the genre you're writing. Or any genre.

As soon as you start reading, you might find inspiration bloom!

2. Switch to a Different Project

ree

I've found that when I can't find inspiration, switching to another project helps. For example, if you're writing a cozy mystery, open up the rom-com you've been procrastinating to work on.

3. Take a Break

ree

Sometimes, giving yourself a break is the best thing to do. Go for a walk, or hang out with friends. Anything unrelated to writing will do. Taking a break will give your mind some time to rest and recharge. When you come back to your WIP, you might surprise yourself.

So here you have it. Let your WIP rest for a while, and beat your writer's block!
